City of Chilliwack Seeks Your Budget Feedback for 2022-2031

Chilliwack – As the old saying goes, don’t mention politics and money at the dinner table.

But ….

As the City of Chilliwack develops it’s 2022 – 2031 Financial Plan, members of the public are encouraged to participate in the budget planning process through the interactive Citizen Budget tool.

Until October 22, residents can go online to let the City know their budget priorities, while gaining additional insight into service level impacts based on spending on various City services. This input helps Council determine the right balance between property taxes and ensuring the long-term sustainability of City services.

Each year, the City prepares a 10-year Financial Plan. This establishes responsible fiscal management by not only identifying present priorities, but also identifies and anticipates future community priorities and needs well in advance to financially plan, accordingly.

“If you have ever wondered where your property tax dollars go, this tool is an excellent way to learn more, while simultaneously sharing your priorities for future spending,” said Mayor Ken Popove. “As a Council, we want to hear from you and, with your participation, this tool can provide us with exceptional feedback on the wants and needs of Chilliwack residents.”

Residents can access the survey in a number of ways:

  • Online at chilliwackbudget2022.ethelo.net
  • In person at City Hall (obtain a hard copy of the survey from the front window at City Hall and return it in person or by mail to 8550 Young Road, Chilliwack, BC V3P 8A4, c/o Finance Department)

The City is always working towards providing more accessibility within our offerings. If you have any access needs or additional questions about this survey, please contact the Finance Department directly at budget@chilliwack.com or 604.792.9311.
