Chilliwack FC hires Roger Torres-Jaramillo as new Technical Director

Chilliwack- Following an extensive search that drew much international interest, the Chilliwack FC Executive is pleased to announce the hiring of Roger Torres-Jaramillo as Technical Director. Torres-Jaramillo will be sharing responsibilities with current Technical Director Glenn Wilson who will be transitioning into a new role as Head Coach as the club expands its full-time staff; supporting further development of players and coaches in alignment with priorities in the Chilliwack FC 2021-2025 Strategic Plan.

Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Torres-Jaramillo comes to Chilliwack by way of Murcia, Spain. A technical staff member at Universidad Catolica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM), he is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and professional soccer coach with UEFA A, UEFA B, and FA Level 2 certifications. Building on his Olds College degree in Business and Sport Management, he is currently completing his Master’s Degree in High Performance Sport: Strength and Conditioning at UCAM. With over 10 years of coaching experience from grassroots to professional on four different continents, Torres-Jaramillo will bring with him a global awareness of industry best practices and renewed energy to the club.

With leadership from Torres-Jaramillo, he and Wilson are tasked with advancing the overall standards for Chilliwack FC players, developing their style of play, and assisting keen players in continuing to play soccer at the next level with local Chilliwack adult teams, as well as higher-level youth teams, university, provincial, national, and professional teams. Wilson will continue to develop and promote the Chilliwack FC Skills Centre and work with club coaches to maximize the amount of training players will receive. Ensuring coaches are continuously improving through a coach development curriculum and meeting targets for certification is another objective of the strategic plan that will be shared by both leaders.

Torres-Jaramillo and his young family will arrive in Chilliwack in October. He will be joining the Chilliwack FC organization midway through the Fall/Winter season and will be meeting with many members and stakeholders. The Chilliwack FC Executive encourages its membership to make the new arrivals feel welcome.
