Chilliwack City Hall Resumes Indoor Public Service With Upgrades

Chilliwack – Members of the public will soon have additional ways to do business with Chilliwack City Hall. On Tuesday September 7, City Hall will pivot to provide indoor service to the public on a limited basis, with a number of safety measures in place to keep everyone safe. Throughout the pandemic, the City was able to continuously provide in-person customer service through outdoor ticket windows at the front of the building ensuring residents always had access to services at City Hall.

As part of the provincial mask mandate, masks will be required inside of City Hall. Other safety measures include having glass partitions at all service counters, and adhering to physical distancing and capacity limits. In order to serve the public safely, a “take a number” system will be in place in the lobby to avoid congestion at certain service counters. Public hearings will return to the in-person meeting format on September 21, following provincial health guidelines.

“We are looking forward to safely welcoming back members of the public inside City Hall,” said Mayor Ken Popove. “We will continue to do our best to serve anyone who visits us in person in a timely manner, but City Hall is an older building with limited space, and while these additional safety measures may mean slightly longer wait times, they are necessary to keep everyone safe.”

For those who prefer not to enter the building, two outdoor ticket windows will remain in service at the front of the building for general enquiries and finance, and many City services are also available online. Staff will continue to be accessible to the public via phone, email and virtual meetings.

If you feel sick or have any symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home and do not attend City Hall until you are well.
