Fraser Valley – On Thursday, an overdose alert was issued. This was after many sirens were heard through out Chilliwack and Abbotsford on Tuesday and followed by a very busy “Welfare Wednesday” for EMS crews.
In their update, Fraser Health said: There has been an increase in overdose events across the Fraser Health Region. Friends, family and community members using opioids and stimulants face increased risk from both injection and inhalation.
Some of the substances are also suspected to be contaminated with benzodiazepines which complicates overdose response. We have noticed an increase in overdose related to a yellow down substance and a black down substance.
