Chilliwack Downtown Business Association – Coffee with a Cop

Chilliwack – The Chilliwack Downtown Business Association held an outdoor a session called, Coffee with a Cop (Wednesday August18).

This was open to the Public and Business Owner at Community Central Park to get feedback from community as well business owners.

RCMP Sgt. Krista Vrolyk who works the Community Policing office on Wellington was available with updates and positive discussion about safety in the community.

While kids had a great time playing with the lights and sirens in a cruiser, Vrolyk did get an earful from one Mill Street business owner, concerned about drug use and homelessness. The proprietor’s argument was they make their choices and she had little sympathy. Vrolyk also with a handful of other officers who also attended, tried to explain that the opioid crisis and homeless situation was not an easy thing to fix.

Amber Price, owner of The Book Man was ecstatic that this will become one of many person to person events within the community and in particular, Downtown Chilliwack.

Vrolyk hopes to have more of these discussions.
