Chilliwack (with files from Chris Gadsden) – Around 6:30 AM Saturday morning, Chilliwack Fire responded to a fire that engulfed a fifth wheel trailer and damaged a house. This was near Sinclair and Blackburn Road, not far from the Vedder Canal. Firefighters had a challenge getting water to the flames.
Chilliwack Firefighters Local Put out their release after 1PM: Chilliwack fire crews responded to yet another structure fire, this time on Sinclair rd in Greendale. A prompt response from the paid on call crews at Hall 6 (Greendale) allowed for them to set up an attack engine at the scene of the fire and begin initial fire attack, as well as initiate a water supply by staging the tender where they had dropped their supply line at a nearby barn. E4 was next on scene and set up as the supply pump, and drafted off of the tender to send water to the attack pump. The crews quickly extinguished the burning trailer, as well as the flames which had began began burning the vinyl sided 2 story house. If it weren’t for these quick actions, this home could have become a complete loss, there was however some fire damage to the home, but considering the circumstances it was kept to a bare minimum. No injuries were reported at the scene of the fire.
Chris Gadsden took some photos of the fire. On my early morning drive this morning came upon this fire by the Vedder Canal near the Keith Wilson Bridge. First thing was to call 911 and report it. I think someone had called it in before me. I was concerned there may have been someone in the house but someone came from the farm just before I was to go down to the house and he tried to put it out and prevent it from spreading to the house.
