Chilliwack’s COVID Case Count Holds Steady, Period Covering May 2-8

Chilliwack (Josh Olund BCIT Radio A&E) – Chilliwack’s weekly COVID case count is remaining steady according to the latest report from the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC). Chilliwack’s local health authority (LHA) recorded 89 cases in the period of May 2-8, after recording 88 the previous week. Chilliwack’s case average is currently at 10.1 to 15 cases per100,000 people.

Which is the third-worst among the six categories presented by the BCCDC.

Looking east, Hope’s local health authority (LHA)recorded just eight cases in the period of May 2-8, after recording five the previous week. Though the case counts are smaller, Hope is the same as Chilliwack in terms of case average sitting at 10.1 to 15 cases per 100,000 people.

Agassiz saw an encouraging drop in COVID cases, with just one recorded this week after having 10 the previous week.Out west, the numbers are a mixed bag of good and bad.

Mission has become a hot spot territory after a spike in cases. That LHA jumped from 63 to 89 cases and is currently averaging 20-plus cases per100,000 people.

Abbotsford’s COVID case count dropped from 498 to 409, but that LHA also joined Mission in the BCCDC’s hot spot category.
