Josue Anderson – From Political Candidate to Screenplay Competition Winner

Chilliwack – Last fall, Josue Anderson was an Independent Candidate for Chilliwack MLA during the 202o Provincial Election. The Mexican-born Chilliwack resident billed himself as “born into poverty in Mexico before my father brought us to British Columbia when I was 5 years old. 6 years ago I left UBC with a double major and student debt. I am now retired at 30. I am not a politician, I am a capitalist and I assure you we need progressive socialism in order to save our planet.

Our current political system is woefully ill-equipped to tackle income inequality or climate change. We need to dramatically revolutionize the social systems used in government so that people feel connected and represented.”

While Dan Coulter won that election, Anderson has pursued other interests including owner at Maria’s Vapor Emporium and Owner at Big Bear Vapor in Maple Ridge and Surrey respectively.

Anderson is also associated with The Husk Flow Collective, a new collective space to take on your creative ambitions. Shared spaces, Sound proof rooms, Pod-cast Studio and a schedule of creative classes at 45903 Wellington Avenue in Downtown Chilliwack.

Josue is also a screenwriter and recently won an international competition. His Facebook page is here.

His screenplay “Vacancy” won the ‘No-budget screenplay’ category in a competition is based in Paris. The story is based in Vancouver, it’s a comedic commentary about housing prices.”$500 for a 1 bedroom apartment in downtown Vancouver? When pretending to be a minimalist to fool a yuppie landlord. Anderson goes on to describe the script:

Sam (they/them) finds themselves in the middle of an increasingly elaborate housing grift.”I’m happy to share the 25-30 minute screenplay with anyone interested in reading it.
