Abbotsford – The Board of Directors of the Abbotsford Soccer Association recently announced that Trevor O’Neill, the current Lead Coach for the Community League program has agreed to take on the new role of Technical Lead, Grassroots and Community Programming. O’Neill played all his youth soccer with the Abbotsford Soccer Association and continued his career in Abbotsford playing five years as a member of the U.F.V. men’s team, the last two years as captain.

A.S.A.’s Technical Director, Ian Knight comments, “As a graduate of the Abbotsford Soccer Association, Trevor has established himself as a technical lead of the club over many years. I am delighted that Trevor has been recognized for his major contributions to the club’s operations with this enhanced role moving forward.  As the ‘Technical Lead, Grassroots and Community Programming’, I am confident that Trevor will continue to bring inspired leadership to our programs and to our participating members within the U4-U10 age groups.”

Trevor has been a part of the ASA since he was five years old.  He played his way up through the ranks playing on the club’s top youth teams, including the Y League program that saw him attend several North American Championships in Florida.  His career continued locally with UFV and the USL Premier Development League.  He has his B Licence certification and has been coaching with the club for ten years.  He oversees the largest program in the club.  He is also currently the Director of the Abbotsford Middle School Soccer Academy.

“As our club continues to grow and adapt to the needs of our community, it is very special to have a young man that grew up in our club take on such a dynamic role of responsibility and leadership.  Trevor’s dedication to the game, the players in his care, and his desire to ‘give back’ to his community speaks volumes about his character and desire to grow the game here in Abbotsford,” says club General Manager, Dan Village.
