Hope – After the recent drama for the beleaguered Hope Train Station, comes a GoFundMe page drive to raise money to save and perhaps move the old building.
Some call it an eye sore, others call it a heritage building to preserve.
A public hearing into the fate of the site is scheduled for May with Hope District Council. The Council wants to remove Heritage designation.
A stop work order on the potential demolition was issued by the Province through the Heritage Conservation Act.
The District, Ministry of Transportation and Chawathil First Nation have all been players in this long draswn out drama.
The GoFundMe is trying to raise $150,000 for the cause. Organizer Arlene Webster:

This Station House is an important part of BC’s railway heritage as well as Hope’s local history, and it is in need of a new home in our community.
