District of Mission Receives Grant for Wildfire Resiliency Planning

Mission/Victoria – The District of Mission has recently received nearly $140,000 under the Community Resiliency Investment program for 2021 FireSmart Community Funding & Supports.

The Community Resiliency Investment (CRI) Program was introduced by the province to aid communities across British Columbia by funding activities that reduce the risk and impacts of wildfires. The District will use the grant for FireSmart activities such as community education, vegetation management, cross-training for firefighters, and development considerations, such as fire-resistant materials and road access in the fire interface areas of Steelhead and Stave Falls.
