District of Kent’s Update Regarding the Freshet

Kent/Agassiz – With the warm weather and spring rain comes the the tradition of keeping an eye on the freshet. With the high that normal winter snow pack, all eyes are on the Rivers. The District of Kent issued their update on Friday.

Harrison Lake is expected to rise by 80 centimeters and comparable to the 2012 freshet. Similar to Chilliwack, lands outside of the dyke system may experience flooding. Riverbank erosion is a real threat.

Time to test sump pumps to ensure they are working properly in basements.
