Abbotsford Police – Body of Marie Stuart Found – Foul Play Not Suspected

Abbotsford – MAY 27, 2020 UPDATE – On March 19, 2020, Abbotsford Police attended a rural property in the 32000 block of King Road for a report of the discovery of human bones.

It has now been determined that the deceased is 38-year-old Marie Stuart.  Ms. Stuart had been the subject of an AbbyPD missing persons investigation that was initiated December 27, 2016.

Marie’s mother, Janet, states, “My family & I wish to express our sincere thanks to the Abbotsford Police Department, our friends, neighbours & community for their help, support, & prayers regarding Marie. Thank you.”

Foul play is not suspected however the cause of Ms. Stuart’s death is still under investigation.

The Abbotsford Police Department extends its condolences to Marie’s family and friends.

DECEMBER 27 2017 UPDATE – Wednesday marks the one-year anniversary of the disappearance of 39-year-old Marie STUART. Marie was last seen (and captured on security video) walking near Seven Oaks Mall on South Fraser Way at 3:00 pm on this date last year. Marie was pregnant at the time and her baby’s due date and her own birthday have passed. Her family and friends continue to worry incredibly about her and they maintain hope that she can be found.

This missing person’s investigation is continuing for the Abbotsford Police Department. To date there have been numerous searches of the Mill Lake Park area both on land and on water. There have been a limited number of actual potential sightings with a far larger number of speculative theories offered. APD Major Crime Unit detectives have investigated all information that has been received. On this anniversary, they are now appealing for more information and asking for anyone who may have had contact with Marie in the last year to call us.

JANUARY 13 2017 UPDATE – After two weeks, Marie Stuart remains unaccounted for. Stuart is 5’ 2” with black hair and glasses. If you have any info, contact Abbotsford Police.

JANUARY 3 UPDATE – Abby Police continue their search for Marie Stuart. APD Constable Ian MacDonald says they still have no reason to believe she’s in danger. She is well known in the community but don’t have any other answers or information on why she simply disappeared once week ago (December 27). APD continue to receive tips from the public including two possible sightings in Mission and Langley.

ORIGINAL STORY – DECEMBER 27/29 2016 – Abbotsford Police continue to search for a mom to be — 38-year-old Marie Stuart.

She was last seen near Seven Oaks Mall, on South Fraser Way between Gladwin Rd. and Bourquin Crescent West at around 3 p.m on Tuesday, December 27.

Somehow the mom who is five months pregnant, was separated from her husband at the mall. They had just got off the bus  and went in different directions.

Stuart is 5’2″ tall, with black hair and glasses, wearing a yellow toque and a black jacket.

CVSAR have also deployed a crew and his searching Mill Lake Park and the surrounding area.
