Chilliwack – A unique twist to a Facebook fundraising idea. CSOPA – Chilliwack School of Performing Arts Director Lisa Braun posted the idea to Facebook.
For my birthday this year, I’m asking for donations to Chilliwack School of Performing Arts. This is a place where youth can go and explore their imagination and creative, develop empathy and autonomy and find their voice and leadership abilities. It is so much more than just a show, but right now we can’t have any. Our festival for the whole school was this week and frankly we aren’t certain when we can perform in a theatre next. We rely on fundraising, tuition, grants and sponsors to keep our programs going, and right now all of that is in flux.
This year, please help me help this place. Help me keep it going, because right now, in this world it’s even harder than it’s ever been to be an arts organization. What I want more than anything for my birthday is support and security for this place. The arts will survive and emerge from this storm even more creative and dynamic, but I’d like to keep this place healthy in the interim and ensure that our staff and cast members can continue to create together in whatever ways we can.
Please support these amazing humans and this place. Please support this place that has helped youth fight through their challenges to create and triumph.
