Mission/Abbotsford – Abbotsford Fire sent units to 1st Avenue in downtown Mission on Easter Monday to work with local crews on a major fire in Mission.
Facebook posts show Warcraft games with upstairs apartments, going up in flames.
The smoke can be seen in Abbotsford. Hydro went out for most downtown customers.
3 businesses have been damaged and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Mayor Pam Alexis commented on Facebook: I have no photo to share. I still smell smoky and my throat is a bit rough. Its a sad day for our beautiful downtown Mission. Thank you to both Mission and Abbotsford fire departments as this fire was a stubborn one and crews have been on site for hours. We are fortunate that no lives were lost. To the businesses that were impacted, my heart goes out to you all. I know we are a loving and caring community but now we have to add strong to the mix. And as businesses and individuals you are already exhibiting that quality. We will endeavor to be by your side through it all. It’s what we do. Now could somebody please unplug 2020 and wait a bit before plugging it back in? Thank you.
