Langley – The Trinity Western Spartans men’s and women’s volleyball teams close out the first semester both ranked No. 1 in the country after the final U SPORTS Top 10 rankings of 2019.
The Spartans women’s volleyball team holds the top spot for the seventh time this season, most recently capping off the semester with a pair of victories on the road in Calgary (Nov. 28-29). The Spartans head into the Christmas break sitting tied for first in Canada West with Mount Royal, holding an 11-1 record.
Also riding top spot in the country are the men’s volleyball team, after closing out the semester riding a 10-game winning streak. The Spartans, which have won a school record 30 consecutive sets, concluded 2019 with a pair of road wins in Calgary (Nov. 28-29). They have now held the No. 1 spot for seven consecutive weeks and sit tied with Brandon for first in Canada West with an 11-1 record.
The women’s volleyball team resumes play next semester, traveling to Regina to take on the Cougars Jan. 3-4, 2020. The men’s volleyball team opens the 2020 portion of its regular season with a bye week.
