Abbotsford – Over 100 Abbotsford residents came out to support the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF) and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Fraser Valley (BBBSFV) at the 2nd annual It’s A Wonderful Breakfast hosted in the Merry & Bright space at Sevenoaks Mall. This festive breakfast event was filled with joy and cheer as guests enjoyed a special Christmas performance by the dancers at VELA Academy of Movement while eating delicious eggs, bacon, hash browns, fruit and more, provided by Sodexo. The well fed guests help raise over $4,000; the funds this year will go towards supporting youth mental health programs.
“The generosity of the people in Abbotsford amaze me” exclaimed Liz Harris, Executive Director of the FVHCF, “This event is a fantastic way to get into the Christmas spirit”.
The audience got a special treat in hearing from Marco Iannuzzi, former wide receiver for the BC Lions, and was delighted by the Emcee for the event, Trevor McDonald.
“I loved the guest speakers and the entertainment was fantastic but what made the event for me was seeing Santa” Corina Carroll, Executive Director of BBBSFV commented in reference to an early visit from the big guy. Yes, even jolly old St. Nick made it down for the breakfast. “Everyone here today is now on the NICE list” Santa laughed as he made his way to back to the North Pole.
“We could not make this event happen without our sponsors, Aldergrove Credit Union, Ritchie Smith Feeds, and RBC Sevenoaks, not to mention the guests! It is with a full heart I would like to thank every single one of them” said Harris.
