Spartan Foundation’s Fundraising Event Raised Record $540K For TWU Student-Athletes

Langley – The Spartan Foundation’s 11th annual Complete Champions Corporate Reception fundraising event, presented by Nicola Wealth, featured former NHL player and 2016 NHL All-Star Game MVP, John Scott. On November 15th the event raised a record $540,000 for Trinity Western Spartan student-athletes at the Langley Events Centre – home of the Spartans.

“We are so encouraged that this corporate fundraising reception continues to grow and gain momentum each year to help the teams, coaches and athletes,” said Steve Scholz, Executive Director of the Spartan Foundation. “We feel extremely blessed by the support from our corporate sponsors, table sponsors and donors who contributed to our matching fund, as well as those who donated on the day of the event. It is exciting to invest and help student-athletes grow and develop today, as one day, they will be our future leaders.”

The corporate event, which includes time for the business community to network and to connect, is hosted by the Spartan Foundation, whose purpose is entirely focused on raising funds for the TWU Spartans Athletics program and the Complete Champion Approach™ with the intention to impact student-athlete lives.

Thanks to a record-high day-of giving, which saw over $276,000 donated on the day of the event, the reception once again surpassed the half million mark,

John Scott gave an inspiring speech on the day, recounting his unique journey to the National Hockey League and the 286-game career he enjoyed at the highest level of professional hockey. Scott now lives in Michigan with his wife and five children.
