RCMP Need Witnesses to Monday November 18 MVA/Pedestrian Struck – Near Old Safeway/New Fresh Co.

Chilliwack – RCMP are looking for witnesses to a collision between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian.

On November 18, around 5:30 p.m. Chilliwack RCMP received a call to report a collision between a pick-up truck and pedestrian at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Cheam Avenue (By the old Safeway – now the NEW Fresh Co.).

At first, social media lit up due to the number of police involved. The rumours piled up on social media – everything from the pedestrian struck to something worse.

Officers arrived at the location where BC Ambulance personnel were providing medical attention to the pedestrian who had suffered serious non-life threatening injuries.  The 48-year-old female from Chilliwack was transported to hospital by BC Ambulance.

The alleged driver of the pick-up truck – a 37-year-old man from Chilliwack- remained on scene and cooperated with the police investigation.

As officers continue to pursue their investigation police are reaching out to the public for witnesses or drivers with dash camera images of the collision to contact the Chilliwack RCMP.

“The pedestrian remains in hospital receiving medical attention for her injuries,” says Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson for the UFVRD.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is urged to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or, should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
