Chilliwack – The purpose of the Peach Creek Salmon Habitat Restoration project is to support resilient salmon populations and robust floodplain ecosystems in the Chilliwack and Vedder River watershed. This is the third year of a multi-year project, focussed on creating off-channel spawning habitat and new rearing and overwintering habitat at two locations along the Vedder Rotary Trail.
Anticipated Works & Timeline:
Enhancement and restoration efforts will include the creation
of new salmon habitat (with the use of excavators and machinery) and
replanting the area with native trees and shrubs (with the help of
community volunteers).
-September 3-31, 2019 – Salmon habitat excavation activities involving heavy machinery. Lead by FVWC and DFO
