Sunday Morning Chilliwack Homicide Victim ID’d As James Vidal

Chilliwack – Just after 6:30AM Sunday Morning (Sunday, March 10), Chilliwack RCMP were called to the 45700 block of Alexander Avenue for a report of a male with gunshot wounds.  The victim, 33 year old James Vidal, died on scene and was known to police.  This incident is believed to be targeted.  FVN has learned that he was a major player in the local drug trafficking trade. His older brother Curtis Vidal, was sentenced to gang related crimes in 2009. He too was known to police in the Fraser Valley.

If you have any information regarding this homicide, you are requested to call the Chilliwack RCMP at (604)792-4611, the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or if you wish to remain anonymous, please call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Chilliwack Mayor Ken Popove told FVN on Sunday morning that there was a shooting near his business, Ken’s Tire and Wheel.

This comes on the heels of two shootings in February, one turned into a homicide of a 42 year old woman, the other left a man in hospital.

FVN was also advised by readers that a car fire happened around the same time at McCammon Elementary on Wellington, but for now, no connection was made between the two incidents.
