UPDATE – Chilliwack Shooting – Near Sardis Secondary – One Arrest

Chilliwack – Social media lit up around 9PM Thursday night, as shots were heard behind Firehall No. 4 in the 45300-block of South Sumas Road in Chilliwack. That firehall is close to Sardis Secondary School, where events were happening within the building.

Police quickly descended on the area as this was the second shooting this week in the Wack.

A 23-year-old man was located with a gunshot wound and was transported to hospital with non- life threatening injuries.

A 19- year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident, and remains in custody pending further investigation.

This incident is believed to be targeted, but is not believed to be related to the previous shooting in Chilliwack earlier this week.

If anyone has any information about this shooting, they are requested to call the Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crime Unit at (604)792-4611 or, should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).

Earlier this week, a 40 year old woman was hurt in a Victor street shooting. That remains under investigation.
