Matsqui- FEBRUARY 15 UPDATE – A day day lockdown at Matsqui Institution has been lifted. It started February 5 as an “exceptional search” for contraband. The institution has resumed its normal operations. Visits to the institution have resumed.
ORIGINAL STORY – FEBRUARY 5 – Correctional Service of Canada quietly posted to their Facebook page that on February 5, at about 7:20 p.m., a lockdown was put in place at Matsqui Institution to enable staff members to conduct an exceptional search. Visits have been suspended until the search is completed.
Lockdown’s for contraband items (drugs, weapons, tobacco etc) are not unusual.
As of Saturday, this lockdown enters its 4th day.
