Summer Festival Series Talent Search – Township Of Langley

Langley – Performers of all ages looking to showcase their singing, dancing, and other talents have a chance to take centre stage this summer, as the Township of Langley opens its annual call for entertainers.

The Township is looking for individuals to take part in their popular Summer Festival Series, being held Thursdays throughout July and August at the Willoughby Community Park Amphitheatre, as well as at the Canada Day Celebrations in Fort Langley.

This year, younger performers are also encouraged to apply, as a Talent Search is being conducted to find bands and musical acts made up of youth between the ages of 15 and 19 to open for a slate of professional Summer Festival entertainers.

The Township is looking for performances ranging from 15 to 20-minute sets to fully staged productions of up to two hours long. Wandering performers such as minstrels, clowns, puppeteers, and jugglers are also being sought for Canada Day. Performances will take place in front of audiences of all ages, so all acts must be family-friendly.

Entertainers and youth performers who would like to be considered can submit proposals, including detailed descriptions of their performances, publicity photos, videos (or links to them), CDs, and a list of past experiences and references, to Arts, Culture and Community Initiatives, Township of Langley, 20338 – 65 Avenue, Langley, BC, V2Y 3JI. Electronic press kits can be emailed to festivals@tol.ca

Applicants should also include the dates they are available in July and August, the length of each performance set, and their remuneration expectations.

Deadline for submissions is Thursday, February 28.

Proposals will be reviewed by a volunteer committee of entertainment professionals.  While all submissions are appreciated, only those invited to a second stage of consideration will be notified.
