Valley RCMP Drug Bust – Starting In 2017, “Made A Difference”

Chilliwack- A question ‘would this seizure make a difference?’ asked during a RCMP press conference was answered in Provincial Court (click here for link to August 23, 2017 media release).
 
Shortly after noon on August 18, 2017, during an investigation into a drug trafficking operation, Chilliwack Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) officers witnessed an exchange of illegal drugs between two men.
 
The ensuing police investigation led to the execution of Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) search warrants and the two men charged under the CDSA.
 
The RCMP seized 3.60 kilograms of cocaine, 228.35 grams of heroin / fentanyl, 3.6 kilograms of marihuana, drug trafficking paraphernalia including a cocaine press, two sawed-off shotguns, a revolver, rifle, cash, and two vehicles during the investigation.
 
On September 18, 2018 in Provincial Court Antonio Dillan Nolasco-Padia, 21, of Chilliwack was sentenced to time served after he entered a guilty plea to a charge of unlawfully possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
 
Lucas Benjamin Thiessen, 23, of Chilliwack was sentenced to 8.75 years of incarceration after entering a guilty plea to charges for 3 counts of unlawfully possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking in a controlled substance and 2 counts of possessing a prohibited firearm on October 25, 2018 in Provincial Court.
