One Dead After Suspicious Fire In Chilliwack Valley

Chilliwack Valley – Early Tuesday morning (July 24@ 1:15AM)  Chilliwack RCMP was called to the 5100-block of East Paulsen Road after receiving the report of a structure fire. General duty officers supported by Chilliwack Fire Department arrived at the address where they found a cabin fully engulfed by fire.

One person died inside the structure. The deceased has not yet been identified and Chilliwack RCMP are working with the BC Coroners Service to determine the identity.

The area surrounding the fire scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time. The Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crime Unit and BC Coroner Service have conduct of the investigation.

Investigators are in the evidence gathering stages of their investigation, so no further details are available at this time.

At this stage of the fire scene examination there is no evidence to suggest the fire was a random act, says Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson for the UFVRD.
