Abbosford – The Transportation and Transit Master Plan was adopted Monday by Abbotsford City Council.
In April 2017, the Transportation and Transit Master Plan was commissioned, under the Plan 200K initiative, to implement the City’s Official Community Plan (OCP). This report summarizes the work and engagement completed for the plan.
The plan was broken down into four stages to review prior to Council approval:
Stage 1 for the Transportation and Transit Master Plan included a review of current conditions for the street network, transit system, and walking and cycling facilities. The review highlighted key issues identified and the opportunities for further analysis in later stages.
Stage 2 for the Transportation and Transit Master Plan included exploring transportation possibilities to improve key elements such as: walking, cycling, transit and street networks.
Stage 3 for the Transportation and Transit Master Plan included further technical analysis of the transportation possibilities, developing short, medium, and long-term priorities to improve key elements of: walking, cycling, transit, street networks and preparing for future emerging transportation technologies.
Stage 4 work involved finalizing the Master Plan which commenced immediately upon Public Consultation for Stage 3 and Council’s approval of the recommendations.
