Abby Police, BC Coroner – Human Remains Identified As Missing Deborah Ann Hycha

Abbotsford – A sad end to a missing persons story in Abbotsford.

Under the supervision of the BC Coroners Service, the Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Unit have collected forensic evidence related to the above-noted file.  Through investigation and analysis of the collected evidence, it has been determined that the deceased female is 52 year old Deborah (Debbie) Ann HYCHA.  The preliminary investigation indicates that this is not a suspicious death.

Deborah was last seen in Abbotsford in May 2017, and was reported missing by her family in June 2017. 

This is a tragic outcome for this missing person investigation. The Abbotsford Police Department extends its condolences to the family and friends of Deborah. 

ORIGINAL STORY FEBRUARY 6 – On Monday afternoon around 1PM, a person found what appeared to be human bones in a field in the 1600 block of Riverside Road (near the Abbotsford Public Works Yard off King Road). 

Abbotsford Police Patrol officers, Forensic Identification members, Major Crime detectives and BC Coroner Services attended the scene. 

APD is in the earliest stages of this investigation. Additional information will be available as further forensic work is completed and the investigation progresses.

As of now, IHIT has not been called in to the investigation.
