Winter Storm Warning – Relief In Sight Early Saturday

Fraser Valley (Environment Canada) – This may seem like a repeat of last year, however, no one knows what Mother Nature really has plans for. The upside— this storm will taper off. But we will have to wait for Saturday afternoon to really feel the effects.

2:53 PM PST Friday 12 January 2018
Winter storm warning in effect for:

  • Fraser Valley – central including Chilliwack
  • Fraser Valley – east including Hope

Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

Freezing rain mixed with snow is still occurring in the eastern half of the Fraser Valley. Meanwhile temperatures have moderated to above freezing over the West Fraser Valley. Icy conditions will continue for the next couple of hours north and east of Chilliwack and should abate in the East Fraser Valley near Hope overnight.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
