Chilliwack Mountie On Tour For A Cure

Chilliwack –  A local RCMP officer is set to be among riders cycling across the Fraser Valley in the 2017 Cops for Cancer Tour De Valley.

Held in conjunction with regional Cops for Cancer tours throughout the province, law enforcement and emergency service personnel cycle in the effort to raise funds for pediatric cancer research and caring support programs.

This year the Chilliwack RCMP will be represented on the Fraser Valley leg of the tour by Constable Annelisse Lovell.  Growing up a ‘farm girl’ riding horses in Surrey, to later riding bicycles’ with her sons, readied Annelisse for the demanding training programme necessary to participate in the grueling Tour De Valley.

“Kids should be kids and not fighting diseases.  If we can help in some small way to do our part, small acts become a big one,” says Lovell.

Touched in her own life by family and friends who battled the disease Annelisse has been devoted to the ‘amazing and worthwhile cause’ of fund raising to support research in the fight against cancer.

“The Cops for Cancer experience is rewarding, especially when on tour, to see the resilience and smiles on children’s faces as they fight to be healthy kids again,” she says.

Set to take place from September 21 – 29, 2017 the Cops for Cancer Tour De Valley will take participants on an 800 kilometer journey from Tsawwassen to Boston Bar.
