Abbotsford School District Review On 2016 Stabbing Of Two Students

Abbotsford – After last years stabbing at Abbotsford Secondary School, the district reviewed procedures and found that while staff executed proper protocol, there are some deficiencies.

13-year-old Letisha Reimer died and another student (her freind)was sent to hospital in critical condition and is still recovering.

While staff members at Abbotsford Senior Secondary followed existing lockdown procedures and provided appropriate post-crisis support, getting information to parents could have been handled better. there were also drop outs for cell phone service, particularly in the lab, so getting information to EMS crews was compromised or delayed.

The report also recommends reviewing some of the district’s lockdown protocols and  consider equipping all classrooms with first aid kits.

The entire report with 31 recommendations, can be found here.
