UFV Health Fair Opens October 28 At Seven Oaks In Abbotsford

Abbotsford – From childhood immunizations to stroke prevention for seniors, the Health Fair at Abbotsford’s Sevenoaks Shopping Centre offers advice for the entire family.

Running 9:30am to 9pm on Friday, Oct. 28, the fair is hosted by fourth-year UFV Bachelor of Science in Nursing students, continuing a tradition that spans 17 years. Fairs traditionally operate once in the spring and fall, with students creating booths and offering information on approved topics.

“It’s a great opportunity for people of all ages to ask questions and learn about health promotion topics and resources in our community,” says organizer and BSN Associate Professor Sheila Edwards.

The fair has a long-standing history of allowing students to prepare for accurately delivering important information on a variety of health topics.

This year’s topics include; Childhood immunizations; nutrition for school-age children; concussions in school-age children; influenza prevention; information about sleep for university/college students; stroke prevention/detection for adults; and disaster preparedness for the family.

The health fair will be located near the rear entrance of Sevenoaks, next to Dollar Giant.

For more information on the health fair, contact Edwards at 604-792-0025 (local 2500).
