Abbotsford/Kelowna – It is standard procedure for one police detachment to work on an independent investigation of another.
Such is the case with Abbotsford Police looking into a case with Kelowna RCMP.
Abbotsford Police Constable and Media Relations liaison Ian MacDonald confirmed the investigation “into a number of allegations involving the Kelowna detachment” which began in early September.
He cannot comment on the nature of the allegations, but says they will follow the “evidence to whatever place it leads.”
As this is happening, the Officer in Charge of the Kelowna RCMP detachment, Superintendent Nick Romanchuk has taken a leave of absence.
Sgt. Rob Vermeulen with BC RCMP says an interim Regional Detachment Commander remains in place.
