Abbotsford – Attempted Abduction On Marshall Road

Abbotsford -SEPTEMBER 22 UPDATE –  The female complainant has now provided information to the Abbotsford Police that the incident did not occur as she originally described. She deeply regrets any undue alarm she caused the police or public. The APD investigation into the incident is now concluded.

On Sunday evening (September 18, 2016, at 10:00 PM), a 33-year-old woman was walking in the area of Marshall and McCallum Roads when a man in a blue van asked her if she wanted a ride. The woman declined and continued walking. The man in the blue van drove by her a second time and again offered her a ride, which she again declined.

In the area of Cherry Street and Marshall Road, she felt a hand grab her upper arm. She was able to break free from the grasp of the suspect and run toward a nearby residence to safety.

The suspect is described as a clean-shaven, Caucasian male in his early 20’s with shoulder-length, wavy brown hair. He had a slim build and was wearing a dark-coloured baseball cap.

The suspect vehicle is described a dark-blue mini-van with rounded corners similar to a Pontiac Montana.

Anyone with information about this incident, suspect or the suspect vehicle should contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225 or text us at 222973 (abbypd) or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
