Chilliwack RCMP Nab Robbery Suspect

Chilliwack –  Timely dispatching and an alert RCMP officer are credited for the arrest of a robbery suspect.

Ryan Karl Malzer, 33, of Chilliwack faces Criminal Code charges of robbery, possession of weapon dangerous to the public, and use of an imitation firearm to commit an indictable offence.  Malzer remains in custody pending a court date in late August.

The charges stem from a report received by RCMP on August 12 at approximately 11:30 p.m. that a man had been robbed in the 45000 block of Luckakuck Way.  General Duty officers immediately arrived at the location where police were told that an individual approached the man then allegedly pointed a gun at the victim demanding money.   The suspect rode away on a bicycle with the stolen cash.

The suspect was quickly located in the area by a patrolling police officer and taken into custody without incident.

Police would like to remind everyone who witnesses anything they believe to be suspicious in nature to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or, should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
