IHIT Chilliwack Homicide Investigation – Both Suspects Caught

Chilliwack – FRIDAY UPDATE  – 3PM BOTH suspects have been caught and now in custody in relation to the beating death. IHIT thanks everyone for their co-operation

THURSDAY UPDATE – On July 13, 2016, just after 11:30am the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment responded to an incident at a home in the 8900 block of Glenwood Street in Chilliwack.

Upon attendance a male, identified as 40 year old John Robert Oliver Anderson, was located in medical distress.  Mr. Anderson was immediately transported to a hospital, however, he did not survive the injuries he sustained and was pronounced deceased just after 1:30pm.  An autopsy will be required to confirm the means of his injuries and the cause of death.

A number of individuals inside the residence were removed and the residence was secured.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is leading this investigation with assistance from the UFVRD RCMP.

Mr. Anderson’s death is believed to be targeted.  Police have identified two possible suspects who fled the scene prior to first responders attending.

IHIT is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the following individuals:

–          David “Yoda” McKay

Efforts to locate the suspects are an on-going priority and police are currently canvassing a number of local areas, including transient encampments as there is no known fixed address for these individuals.

If you know the whereabouts of David McKay and Cydnie Markel-Rempel do not approach or attempt to detain, you are asked to call 911.

ORIGINAL STORY – A man has died of his injuries after an assault in Chilliwack on Wednesday morning , just before Noon.

Chilliwack RCMP received reports of an injured man and when they arrived on Glenwood Street (Near Chilliwack General Hospital), they found one person with life-threatening injuries.

He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

Wednesday night, social media lit up over police tape and the reports of a body on Hope River Rotary Trail, and the coroner at the scene.

UPDATE – The two incidents are not related. In that case, a man in his 50’s was found. The Coroner rules that dealth was not foul play.
