Rising Pop Star From Surrey – Alexis Lynn

Surrey -Recently, Surrey teenager Alexis Lynn has been raising eyebrows and ear drums with her music. Not bad for a young lady who is still one year away from graduating high school. Her style is a cross between R&B and Pop and for such a young lady, she has a mature sound. In her early career, she has been aided by the likes of Tom Lavin of the Powder Blues band and Blues man James Buddy Rogers.

FVN spoke with the young musician:

Alexis has been an entertainer since she was a toddler. Since the age of 10 Alexis has focused on her singing and in the past few years, has discovered her second love; a 1912 Heintzman baby grand.

Her first music nomination was granted in a local songwriting competition where she was awarded a recording package at BLUE WAVE STUDIO by winning BEST ORIGINAL SONG, and AUDIENCE FAVOURITE. Alexis recorded her first single, “WEAK”, and had the privilege of being the last notable client of Tom Lavin of Powder Blues fame, as the studio closed their doors forever shortly thereafter.

Preparing to graduate in 2017, Alexis’ grades also deserve mention as she has maintained a 4.0 average since entering high school. In addition to being an honour roll student, Alexis is also an accomplished athlete. She participated as a goalkeeper in the BC Soccer Premier League until 2015, at which time she made the difficult decision to leave soccer to dedicate herself to her music career. In 2014, Alexis also had the privilege of representing her family heritage by being the goalkeeper for Team BC’s Aboriginal women’s soccer team during the North American Indigenous Games held in Regina, where she helped her team take home the silver medal.

As part of Alexis’ community involvement and in conjunction with her school program PROJECT EQUAL, she visited the Downtown Eastside 3 times this past year, where they delivered handmade sandwiches and care packages to those in need.

In addition to her commitment to school, sports and social causes, Alexis also supports The Multiple Sclerosis Society since discovering her oldest sister is afflicted with the disease. Alexis not only donates to the Society for her sister’s birthday, but also volunteers annually as an entertainer for the WALK FOR MS

Alexis resides in Surrey with her parents, sisters and brother along with their three boxers, Spencer, Bella and Titan.

Alexis is currently working on her EP with 2014 JUNO NOMINEE Blues Musician, James Buddy Rogers and is anticipating a September release. “When I met Alexis and heard her perform I was blown away. While she is considered a youth, her level of singing, song writing and performing are beyond her years. There are many young stars we know of in pop music today and Alexis can play at that same level. The same level we hear on the radio but without digital fabrication”.

Look forward to seeing and hearing more from this promising musician as she enters the real world of entertainment.
