Abbotsford/Sumas – Two U.S. men were recently arrested at the Abbotsford-Huntingdon border crossing after one of them was discovered hiding in a vehicle and trying to be smuggled into Canada.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said 38-year-old Amando Cody was discovered hidden inside the truck bed of a pickup truck on June 22.
The driver of the truck was 45-year-old Valdis Joe.
According to CBSA, It was Joe who was trying to seeking entry to Canada.
On June 24, after spending a day in jail, Cody pleaded guilty to one count of entering Canada illegally,
Joe pleaded guilty to lying to border officials.
Each was sentenced to time served.
