Chilliwack/Vancouver – There may be truth to the business rumour that Molson Coors, once they shut down their Burrard operations in Vancouver, will set up a new brewery in Chilliwack.
There are reports that Chilliwack is on a short list of “preferred locations”.
The sale of the Burrard Street brewery site closed on March 31, with Concord Pacific acquiring it for $185 million. The pan there is for residential and small business development.
Rezoning signs went up recently on Elder Avenue, just north of Highway 1 and Vedder.
Alex McMillan, a spokesperson for Molson Coors Canada would only say that they are interested in looking at Chilliwack and CEPCO (Chilliwack Economic Development) boss Brian Coombs has stated that they have been assisting Molson Coors with “due diligence”. That is the not legalese term for paperwork.
Long before any hops and water hit the barrels, public hearings into the possible development would have to take place.
