Mission (PJHL/John Winton) – The Mission City Outlaws are 2016 PJHL Champions after defeating the Grandview Steelers 7-2 in game five of the best-of-seven league final.
It is the first ever Championship for the Outlaws and the first time in the fifty year history of the league that a team from Mission has taken home the top prize.
Baylee Wright had a huge game, registering a pair of goals and two assists, while Kolby Steen notched the game winner with his 18th marker of the postseason.
Steen finished tied with teammate Bryce Pisiak for the playoff scoring lead with 23 points.
The Outlaws now advance to the Cyclone Taylor Cup where they will face-off against the Victoria Cougars, Campbell River Storm and the winner of the KIJHL Finals, currently being contested by the Kimberley Dynamiters and 100 Mile House Wranglers.
The provincial tournament is being hosted by Victoria and runs from April 7-10 at the Archie Browning Sports Centre in Esquimalt.
