Chiefs Win Fifth Straight And Head Into Final Weekend Of The Regular Season

Chilliwack – Darien Craighead scored twice against his former team in a 5-2 Chiefs win over the visiting Cowichan Valley Capitals Sunday. Craighead now has 26 goals on the season.

With the win the Chiefs improve to 36-12-4-3 and move six points ahead of the second place Wenatchee Wild in the battle for top spot in the BCHL’s mainland division. Both teams have three games remaining.

To catch the Chiefs Wenatchee needs to win all three of their remaining games while the Chiefs would need to lose each of their remaining three games in regulation time.

Dennis Cholowski (10), Jordan Kawaguch (41) and Nolan Zweep with his first BCHL goal also scored for the Chiefs who held period leads of 3-1 and 4-2.

Matteo Esposito turned away 18 shots to earn his 13th win of the season. Five of those wins have come in the last eight days.

Chilliwack wraps up the regular season with three games next weekend. Friday they travel to Coquitlam to face the Express before hosting the Express the next night at Prospera Centre. Sunday the Chiefs will face the Victoria Grizzlies at Prospera Centre in game that starts at 4pm.
