Abbotsford Man Charged With Child Luring

Abbotsford – In December, 2015 the Abbotsford Police Department received information that an Abbotsford resident was posing online as a 19-year-old man, specifically targeting 15-year-old females for a sexual purpose.

Over the next few weeks, a Detective from the APD’s Major Crime Unit posed online as a 15-year-old female. The man communicated with the Detective and requested to meet for the purposes of engaging in sexual activity.

After extensive investigation, 23-year-old Jeremy ROTH was arrested on Monday February 1st, 2016 prior to the meeting. He has now been charged with Child Luring.

This incident serves as a reminder for all parents to be aware of the online activities of their children. In addition, parents should be familiar with all of their children’s friends and their whereabouts at all times.

The Major Crime Unit of the Abbotsford Police Department is continuing the investigation.
