Chilliwack Fire – Possible Arson On McIntosh Drive

Chilliwack, BC -(NOTE – This appears to be similar to the parkade fire on Bole and Nowell, just before Christmas)

Early Friday Morning (2 AM, January 15th 2016) the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire located in the 45000 block of McIntosh Drive. On arrival fire crews reported seeing heavy black smoke from the parkade of a 3 storey multi-tenant residential apartment.

Firefighters responded from Halls 1 and 4. Once fire fighters gained access to the parkade they were able to quickly suppress the fire which limited damage to two vehicles. The building sustained smoke damage to the parkade structure and to the exterior siding on the south side.

There were no civilian or fire fighter injuries. All residents evacuated the building safely and were able to return back later in the morning.

This fire is under investigation by Chilliwack Fire Department and RCMP.

If anyone has any information about this fire, they are asked to call the RCMP at 604-792-4611 or anonymously through Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.chilliwackcrimestoppers.ca
