Chilliwack Arson In Vacant Lickman Road Home

Chilliwack, BC – Early Friday Morning (02:00am on November 6, 2015) firefighters from Chilliwack fire halls 1 and 4 responded to a structure fire in the 7000 block of Lickman Rd. When firefighters arrived they found a vacant, two storey residential home fully involved. Firefighters quickly went to a defensive attack which included protecting all exposures. The house was completely destroyed by the fire.

No one was hurt.

Chilliwack Fire Department remind owners of buildings that are vacant and slated for future development that they should be secured by boarding up all windows and doors and have utility companies disconnect all services which would include gas, electricity and water.

These buildings should be demolished as soon as possible due to the fact that a fire within a vacant structure significantly increases the risk to fire fighter safety and surrounding exposures.

This fire was deliberately set and is under investigation by Chilliwack Fire Department and RCMP fire investigators.

If anyone has any information about this fire, they are asked to call the RCMP at 604-792-4611 or anonymously through Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.chilliwackcrimestoppers.ca
