Valley Huskers Looking For A New Head Coach – Changes In Operations

Chilliwack – The BCFC Valley Huskers have unfortunately, been in a culture of losing and it has taken its toll on players, staff and the fans.

The Huskers quietly took to Facebook to start the search for a new Head Coach, to replace the departed Adam Smith.

GM Moe Agagnier told FVN that Smith’s contact would not be renewed and that a Canada Wide search for a new coach is now underway. Agagnier acknowledged a few things the team MUST improve on, in the off season and for the 2016 season on the field. Community involvement and a better working environment with the media is a must.

The updates to the team website will be reviewed. A major sponsor is still needed to pay the bills but that is not to say that local advertisers have not been pulling their weight.

The Okanagun Sun and Vancouver Island Raiders (and to some extent the Langley Rams) are flush with cash to recruit players, coaches and staff. The Huskers are not in that category and understand their landscape is different from those other teams.

But in a market where the Chilliwack Chiefs and UFV Cascades rule the Valley, the Huskers know things must improve.

Agagnier went on to say that a complete review, top to bottom, of football and office operations needs a microscope look, but the upside was the merchandising of the team. That was a plus this season and will be expanded into next year.

Agagnier has a background with the CFL Winnipeg Blue Bombers as a coach, so he knows of the challenges of a small market community owned team.

On the team website, the coaching job posting states: The Valley Huskers are actively seeking applications for the position of Head Coach for the 2016 season.

If you are passionate about the game of football, the young men who play it, and have head-coaching experience, we’d love to hear from you.

Applications can be sent to our GM Moe Agagnier at moeagagnier@shaw.ca

We are also always on the lookout for similarly-minded assistant coaches who are interested in developing our players to be their best.
