Book Review – Nicola Mar – Santa; – Teen Suicide

Fraser Valley – Ocassionally we at FVN receive books to review. We recently received Santa; by Nicola Mar.

This is a heart wrenching tale of a teenager named June.  A troubled and tortured youth living with her single mother. June like many of our youth in these times, is struggling with issues of weight and bullying at school.

This incredibly well written book tells the story of a young woman struggling to come of age: she is bullied at school, online and in the community.

This book should be a topic of discussion for parents and teens alike.  It deals with self worth, bullying, self-harm, suicide and the hopelessness felt by so many of our young people today.

It creates a wonderful jumping off point for parents with teenagers to have much needed discussions about self-worth and respect of others. We highly recommend this book!
