Chiefs Stumble In Merritt

Merritt, BC – After starting the season with a 5-3 win over the Coquitlam Express on home ice, the Chiefs took to the road this weekend for three games in less than 72 hours.

Colten Lancaster made 32 saves to backstop the Merritt Centennials to a 4-3 home win over the Chilliwack Chiefs. The Cents built two separate two-goal leads with Colin Grannary and Michael Regush putting them ahead early before Jordan Kawaguchi and Ryan Roseboom tallied to draw the Chiefs level early in the second. Nick Fiorentino and Zak Bowles restored the Cents two-goal margin before Jeremy Germain got the Chiefs within one late in the third but that’s how it ended.

Since returning to Chilliwack for the 2011-12 season, the Chiefs have not won in Merritt, going 0-3-0-1 over the last four seasons.

The Chiefs will be in Vernon Saturday night before finishing the weekend with a Sunday afternoon game in Salmon Arm.

All games can be viewed (pay per view) on Fast Hockey or for during game updates follow the Chiefs on twitter.
