UPDATE – Abbotsford July Pellet Gun Attacks – Charge Update

Abbotsford, BC – September 17 UPDATE –  The Abbotsford Police investigation into the pellet gun attack spree has resulted in 14 charges being approved against 21-year-old Harpreet Singh VAID. The accused faces 7 counts of Discharge of an Air Gun with Intent to Injure and 7 counts of Assault with a Weapon.

APD investigators wish to thank the many individuals who provided information and witness accounts to police that contributed tremendously to the identification of the suspect and the subsequent charges.

August 6 UPDATE –  The Abbotsford Police Department has arrested a 21-year-old man in relation to the pellet gun attacks. This investigation has been greatly aided by the information provided by citizens and the extensive media and social media coverage of the incidents. Our work is continuing as we seek to identify and locate at least one other person involved in the assaults and mischiefs. Recent video footage obtained by police clearly shows a driver and a second person with the pellet gun in the suspect vehicle.

ORIGINAL STORY July 29 – Between July 18 and July 27, 2015, there have been 15 pellet gun attacks at various locations in Abbotsford (see map).

Pedestrians, vehicles and homes have been struck with pellets that have been shot from a vehicle by a male suspect believed to be 18-25 years of age. The vehicle is described as a dark-coloured sedan (see security still images). The various assaults and mischiefs have taken place between 3:00 pm and midnight. These attacks on people and property appear to be completely random. To date, 4 female pedestrians and 5 male pedestrians have been struck and injured.
