Chilliwack RCMP- Mail Theft Charges

Chilliwack, BC –  33 year old Jeffery Michael Kizmann of Chilliwack remains in custody facing charges of theft from mail and breach of probation after being arrested by RCMP on September 2, 2015. Kizmann remains in custody pending a court appearance in later this month.

The charges stem from a police investigation initiated on September 1, 2015 when RCMP received a report of the theft of mail from four Community Mail Boxes in the 8400 block of Shrewsbury Drive. Evidence gathered during the joint investigation conducted by Chilliwack Crime Reduction Unit and Canada Post Investigators quickly linked the suspect to the alleged mail theft.

“RCMP in the UFVRD continue to work closely with our partners in Canada Post and other police agencies throughout the Fraser Valley to investigate and arrest the people responsible for the theft of mail,” said Cpl. Mike Rail.

Police and Canada Post remind everyone to practice some simple habits to help prevent you from being a victim of mail theft:

· Collect your mail daily.

· If you go away contact Canada Post to hold delivery until your return.

· Never send cash in the mail.
