Hope Dope Bust

Hope, BC –  Police arrested two people before seizing marihuana and cash during a traffic stop in town earlier this month.

On August 8, 2015 at about 10:30 p.m. an alert RCMP officer detected the alleged smell of marihuana emanating from a motor home during a road side sobriety check at exit 170 and Flood Hope Road.

The two occupants of the motor home were immediately taken into custody by police who located and seized an estimated 200 pounds of marihuana along with a large amount of cash from inside of the vehicle.

A 44 year old woman from Thunder Bay Ontario faces one charge of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Police will be submitting a report to Federal Crown Counsel detailing circumstances of the incident for their assessment of Controlled Drug and Substances Act charges for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking against a 41 year old man also from Thunder Bay Ontario.

Both individuals were later released from custody pending court dates at the end of September.

“Police remain proactive in our effort to prevent impaired driving in the community. This arrest and significant seizure is a result of that diligence”, said Cpl. Darryl Peppler of Hope Community Policing Office.

As always everyone who witnesses anything they believe to be suspicious in nature is encouraged to contact the Hope RCMP at 604-869-7750 or, should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
